Hi, I’m jackie.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step. My goal is to create a space where you feel comfortable, understood, and able to talk openly about what’s going on in your life.

Much of my work focuses on teens, college students, young adults, and new parents who are working through anxiety, stress, and major transitions.

My Approach to therapy

My approach is practical, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based therapies such as cognitive-behavioral and mindfulness-based approaches. Together we’ll look at patterns in thoughts, emotions, and behaviors that may be keeping you stuck, and develop skills that help you move forward with more clarity and confidence.

Therapy isn’t about “fixing” you — it’s about understanding what’s going on and building tools that help you navigate life more effectively.

a little more about me

I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Health Psychology from App State, am a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) in North Carolina, and have been the owner of Mountain State of Mind Clinic since 2016.

When I’m not working with clients, you’ll likely find me enjoying the outdoors with my family or taking advantage of everything the Blue Ridge Mountains have to offer.

life in the high country

As someone who lives and works in the High Country, I know life here can be beautiful, but also demanding and isolating at times. In fact, life can feel a bit like navigating a mountain trail — sometimes clear and manageable, other times steep, foggy, or uncertain. Therapy offers a place to pause, get your bearings, and figure out the next steps forward.

I’m especially passionate about supporting people during these periods of transition that beg for this sort of pause — when stress, anxiety, or self-doubt can make it difficult to move forward.

Many of my clients are navigating major transitions — starting college, building careers, becoming parents, or adjusting to unexpected changes.
